The Day Of Love And Joy
Ours was an ideal arranged marriage. I want to put this out first because all the guest who arrived at the wedding thought it was a love marriage. The first time I met Gowtham was at my home when he officially came to see me. Right then, I knew he was my man. I don’t know how, but I just knew. We liked each other, our families liked each other, we loved and respected each others’ family and it all went in the blink of an eye from betrothal to the wedding.
Gowtham and I just had a month of an age difference, which made us connect so well. It felt like we’ve known each other forever. Our pre-wedding shoot happened during the three-month gap we had between our engagement and wedding, in Mahabalipuram and I still remember us talking how comfortable and connected we felt like a couple who’ve been married for six months. I couldn’t remember a moment where I felt like I was walking into a whole new life, everything just felt right and in place, with the pace I can take in.
If things fell in the perfect place just as quick as that, it was because of him. From planning surprise visits across cities just to meet me to proposing with white lilies in the mall, he was everything I was dreamt my man had and more.
Our wedding was a perfect Tamil style a big fat wedding. I have heard people tell that brides would probably tear up one or two during the knot and here I was all in full smiles, happily welcoming the new part of my life. The wedding was everything and more of what I imagined it would be. As part of the wedding, we read our vows in Tamil.
It’s been quite a journey to get to this day, and the love, respect and friendship we have for each other has grown with each day. He made me feel at home making it easy into moving into a home with a family that I already have. He is so much more than I ever could have imagined and he continues to surprise me with the love he shows to myself and others.
It was far more than a day and a dress. It was the beginning of everything and the beginning of our family. I married him with a love that is so genuine and pure.
